Iranian President Rouhani warns Trump in the wake of strained relationship between both countries.

Ever since Donal Trump has withdrawn from the 2015 International deal on Iran’s nuclear programme, the relationship between Iran and Trump has deteriorated like never before. Addressing a gathering of diplomats, though Iranian president Rouhani didn’t rule out the possibility of peace and cooperation between both the countries, however, he has explicitly warned his American counterpart Donald Trump stating that ‘America should know peace with Iran is mother of all peace, and war with Iran is the mother of all wars’. Comparing to himself to a lion,  Rouhani in a hit at Trump said, “Mr Trump, don’t play with the lion’s tail, this would only lead to regret”

What is the Iran Nuclear Deal 2015-

Iran deal or Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action was signed between Iran and UK, Russia, USA, France, Britan and EU to ensure Iran’s nuclear programme to be exclusively peaceful. Under the condition of the deal, USA agreed to lift nuclear-related sanctions on Iran.

Why did Donald Trump withdraw from the deal?

In may 2018, America pulled out of Iran deal citing that the objectives of the deal are not being met and it’s become almost defective as it doesn’t target Iran’s “Ballistic Missile Programme” and its nuclear activities beyond 2025.

What are the consequences of Trump pulling out the Iran deal?

Since the deal is no more in existence, hence Iran is now free to develop a nuclear bomb. But, at the same time, Iran has to undergo various economic sanctions imposed the USA while carrying out the international trade. This definitely has left the Iranian President Rouhani dissapointed.

What is India’s position and how will it impact India?

India has been a vocal supporter of Iran Nuclear deal. So, with the USA withdrawal, India- US relations are likely to be hit, as India has many economic and geopolitical interest in West Asia. India has much higher stakes in Iran than that of USA. Hence, India is likely to give more preference to Iran.
