India calls off talks with Pakistan as 3 SPOs killed in the Valley
A meeting between the foreign ministers of India and Pakistan on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly was scheduled to take place next week. It has now been called off the central government due to 3 SPOs killed in the valley of Jammu and Kashmir Pakistani terrorists. Another reason was the release of stamps glorifying the slain terrorist Burhan Wani.
A lot of attempts have been made to revive engagement with Islamabad in the past four years. This abortion just adds to a long list of its failed predecessors.
India has held Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan for the 3 SPOs killed in the valley. The blame for the terrorist incidents occurring in Jammu and Kashmir has also been put on him. Official sources said that Imran Khan had led India down. He was to one who proposed the talks at the UNGA through his letter to PM Narendra Modi. He did this despite knowing full well that he was not in control of Pakistan’s India policy.
The Foreign Ministry said that two major disturbing developments had taken place since the announcement on Thursday. These developments forced the ministry to call off the dialogue. MEA spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said, “The latest brutal killings of our security personnel Pakistan-based entities and the recent release of a series of 20 postage stamps Pakistan glorifying a terrorist and terrorism confirm that Pakistan will not mend its ways.”
Kumar added that these recent developments are proof of Pakistan’s true evil intent hidden behind the veil of peace talks.
Re-engagement of dialogues was suspended due to the 3 SPOs killed in the valley and the terrorist-glorifying postage stamps. Hopes of the resumption of dialogues between the two countries before the elections seems really bleak. This event is reminiscence of all the previously cancelled and aborted peace talks between the two countries.
