BJP led National Democratic Alliance has reached an agreement that will win Bihar

The dispute that had been going on in the BJP led National Democratic Alliance in Bihar has now come to an amicable end. The dispute was basically over the sharing of seats between the parties of the National Democratic Alliance.

The points of the Agreement

It has been decided that the Ram Vilas Paswan led LJP will contest from six sets. In the meantime, BJP and JD (U) will be contesting on seventeen seats each. This arrangement has been reached for the upcoming and crucial Lok Sabha elections. The National Democratic Alliance has also decided to allocate one Rajya Sabha seat to LJP.

The president of BJP, Amit Shah revealed these details to the press via a statement he made on Sunday. Amit Shah also said, “The seat-sharing deal has been reached after keeping in mind the ground realities, the political situation of each seat in the state and the NDA’s strength.” Amit Shah made these statements from his New Delhi residence. The chief minister of Bihar and head of JD (U) Nitish Kumar, as well as LJP chief Ram Vilas Paswan, were present as well when the announcements were made. Amit Shah has also claimed that BJP led National Democratic Alliance will win more seats in Bihar as compared to 2014.

The sharing of seats in the National Democratic Alliance was finalised after meeting on Friday. This meeting was headed the Finance Minister of India Arun Jaitley. Chirag Paswan of the LJP was also one of the attendees in the meeting.

Earlier Upendra Kushwaha and his party RLSP had disturbed the status quo. They had broken away from the BJP led National Democratic Alliance and joined the Congress-led Mahagatbandhan. LJP had raised new demands after the two seats allotted to RLSP had felt vacant. The issues were sorted and the present agreement was reached.

Ram Vilas Paswan is known to have a hold over the Dalits and Mahadalits of Bihar. The Dalit community comprises of sixteen per cent of the total population of Bihar. The mere fact that he has decided to stick with BJP is good news for the alliance. The BJP led National Democratic Alliance can now be assured of a win in Bihar.

Ram Vilas Paswan is known not to stay in a sinking ship and to back the winning horse. The fact that he had stayed with Congress for ten long years before 2014 but has ditched them in favour of BJP speaks volumes of his confidence in the victory of the National Democratic Alliance.
