12th Results are Out and the future also…
“My son got 94% in 12th science stream, even then also I am not advertising the same in the newspaper, but Mrs. Jyoti’s daughter got merely 85% in arts field, then also they published congratulations news in the local newspaper. See this, I am more down to earth than Mrs. Jyoti.”, commented Mrs. Nupur.
It has not remain a surprise that when Board results are out, not only students face frustration and heat of the competition but also parents. It seems child feelings matter less as compared to the impractical expectations of the parents.
The root cause starts with HANDSOME PACKAGES. Indian Parents care about settlement of their child, wherein they would lead a life wherein there would be less challenges and more comfort.
Herein, I would like to quote Steve Wozniak- “Success in India is based on studying, having a job…..where’s the creativity?”
When a child takes birth, two things are imposed upon him- one is caste and other is education. I would like to see my child doing a government job of INR 70k, is what everyone parents care about. However, no one cares about what his or her child thinks, what his ambition etc is.
We cannot merely blame the system and get rid of our responsibilities. We need to change the way we think. I know change is difficult but not impossible.
Let, as a parent pledge that we will not put pressure on our child to choose their career. We will lend our ears to them and understand what they want from their life. No field or sector is inferior to other.
