Why we really need a more powerful film like Article 15?
India is a country, where caste and religion plays a very important role. This role of casteism is divided into two types upper and lower caste. Ayan Ranjan (Ayushmann Khurana), a city-bred IPS officer is posted at Lalgaon Police Station in the heartland of India. After posted, he realized that he has to fight with more odds than he imagined for. The movie depicts you the story about casteism, disparities, and uncomfortable truth about society. The question that this movie conveys is, Do we really need a more powerful film like Article 15?

The question arises here is, does India needs a more powerful film like this? If the answer is yes, you got the reason why you have to watch Article 15. The story initiates when three girls go missing in the fictional village of Lalgaon. The two girls were found dead, while the third one is still not traceable. And film asks you a question do we as a society is responsible for this heinous act?
Ayan tells his wife Aditi on the phone, “It’s like the wild wild West.” Without any fear and faith in casteism, Ayan is clear in his mindset about what is right and what is wrong. He has to fight with caste discrimination and societal inequalities to cure these spreading diseases in society.
The girls were found hanging in the next morning, it tells that something gone has going on. However, there is relentless pressure to close the case as quickly as possible. “Aap logon ka transfer ho jata hai, humein maar diya jata hain,” says Pahwa’s character as he tries to convince Ayan to sign off on the case file.
‘Article 15’ is not exactly casteism based but a crime thriller that depicts the role of society in building us so far. The film is so hard-hitting and brings back the light burning social issues. If you love the social life and thinks that casteism is a bad thing then you should watch this fantastic movie. Other notable character includes Manoj Pahwa, Kumud Mishra, and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayub, in a short but impactful role as Nishad.
