Feminism versus Feminazism: A Social Question

The word ‘feminism’ has, in recent years, sprung up and exploded like brimstone in the barrels of the trigger-happy (pun intended) modern or perhaps, post-modern society. This word has been propagated mainly, the feminist movement, and like most things feminist, the word feminism itself does not mean the same thing for everyone. Feminism, for many, no longer stands for equality of genders.

This has been proven the fact that a major percentage of women in the world, who have the ‘privilege’ of participating in this debate, would happily identify themselves as gender equality supporters but not as feminists. It must be kept in mind that in most first-world countries, this percentage far out-weights its opposition. In the current political environment, it can be questioned whether the feminism being majorly practised is truly feminism or feminazism, thus invoking the statement – feminism versus feminazism.

In its essence, feminism is a noble belief. It is a belief that holds the calibre to trump all prejudices and banish inequality from society. But the form that feminism has taken today is akin to that of a monster that is slowly but steadily eating out its own heart. As Milo Yiannopolus sums it best, the feminism of today is cancer. Now, those who require an explicit note stating that the above statement was a joke fall into this category.

Humour is not just about happy stuff. It is a tool that has been used satirists and poets since centuries to express the pains and sufferings deeply rooted in the social system so that such dark, sensitive and generally unapproachable topics can be brought forth to the limelight. And the hyper-sensitive, easily-triggered and effortlessly-offended culture that is trying to destroy such form of realistic and self-reflexive humour is also, to quite a large extent, a product of the feminazism movement.

The point being made is that society, as well as the feminist movement that aims for equal rights of both men and women, are being severely damaged. Generations upon generations of youth will have to live in a perpetual state of confusion, thinking, where is the line.

If we look at rape cases in the last decade, it is quite clear that the number of fake rape and sexual harassment charges has skyrocketed. Reputed people have had their careers destroyed due to these accusations. This does not mean that there are culprits who exist in society and who are truly guilty. But that does not mean that all who are accused of rape are actually guilty.

It is quite evident that some feminists do believe that people who are accused of rape should be jailed from the fact that marches are held organizations who completely go over the principle of ‘innocent until proven guilty’. Moreover, there have been people who have supported women who accused men of rape after giving consent. For them, regret is rape. A pattern may be observed in the thought-process of the feminazis – the absence of logic.

The vindication of feminism can only be achieved true feminists, who believe in and fight for the rights of all individuals while maintaining an open mind, clear outlook and scientific temperament. The futile war of feminism versus feminazism has been raging on for many years. For the overall welfare of the society and in turn, the world, this question must be asked more often, and an answer must be demanded: “Does the feminism of today believe in equality?”
