Donald Trump’s Japan Trip – Meeting the Emperor

US President Donald Trump’s Japan trip has become a hot topic for foreign affairs all over the world. Apart from his Sumo Wrestling and Golf escapades, another event is attracting the attention of many. His meeting with the Emperor. Emperor Naruhito was recently enthroned. With this Trump has become the first foreign leader to meet the new Emperor. This is considered to be a great honour in Japan.

Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, hopes to pacify relations with the US. This step was taken in order to charm the President. He hopes that this will lead to subsided hostilities during difficult trade talks. The palace visit in the morning was followed a royal banquet in the evening. This was the main event in Abe and Donald Trump’s Japan Trip weekend. Trump said that he “had a  great time” indulging in the Japanese culture. He added that he was really looking forward to meeting the new Emperor. Naruhito took the Chrysanthemum Throne only three weeks ago. This was after his father stepped down. It was the first abdication in two centuries.

“Tomorrow is really the main event — a very important event in the history of Japan. It’s over 200 years since something like this has happened. So it’s a great honour to be representing the United States,” Trump said. After meeting the royal highness, Trump and Abe will meet for summit talks. Then, they will have lunch and will advance to a press conference.

Sunday was a lax day for the two. They complimented each others’ golf games. Trump even presented a gigantic trophy to the Sumo Champion.
