Google Chief Executive Sundar Pichai called in front of the Lawmakers
The Google chief executive Sundar Pichai had to parry with American lawmakers on Tuesday due to the complaints that of brought Google under a wave of criticism from the conservatives. The criticisms that Pichai had to talk about include the complaints of political bias meted out Google. Complaints also included the likes of “intrusive data collection”.“We approach our work without any political bias”, is what Google chief executive Sundar Pichai had to say in response to the allegations. He also added, “We build our products in a neutral way”.

All of this transpired when Google chief executive Sundar Pichai was called to the House Judiciary Committee after a president Donald Trump and his supporters had claimed that Google was on purpose suppressing Conservative voices on its platform.
The hearing was mainly based on Google’s “data collection, use and filtering practices” and offered the lawmakers with a unique opportunity to confront Google chief executive Sundar Pichai over the claims that Google has been skewing search results for various political reasons.
To Sundar Pichai’s credit, the man dressed in a dark suit remained very calm as he responded to the questions posed at him and on several occasions kept repeating patiently that Google serves a “range of viewpoints without bias.”
When a representative of the Republic Party, Lamar Smith of Texas claimed that it was irrefutable that the search results of Google were biased, Google chief executive Sundar Pichai replied, “providing users with high-quality and trusted information is sacrosanct to us… we find we have a wide variety of sources including from the left and the right.”
Pichai was also faced with the allegation that the tech giant, Google has been snubbing American values. This allegation was made in the light of fact that Google had decided to not bid for a major Pentagon cloud computing project. To this Sundar Pichai replied in his prepared testimony with the statement, “Even as we expand into new markets we never forget our American roots,”
