Virat Kohli has become the quickest batsman to cross the milestone of 10,000 ODI runs in just 205 innings, 54 less than Sachin Tendulkar. He achieved this feat in the second ODI match of the five ODI matches series against the West Indies scoring unbeaten 157 off just 129 balls, making 37th ODI century. It is his second consecutive century in this series.

The intensity and consistency with which he plays are just incredible. Every time he comes to bat on the field, there comes a sense of assurance of him not getting out along with that. And he rarely disappoints us. Every time people say that it is the best form of his life and there could be nothing better than this, Virat Kohli astonishes everyone with his ever-improving game. A few years back, the shots which used to be considered a troublemaker for him to play on, he has mastered all of them.

His hunger for scoring the runs and putting his hundred and twenty percent to lead the team towards victory is unparalleled. There are many players out there who might have better technique than that of Virat Kohli, but what sets him apart is the execution of the right shots in the right areas, giving very less room for the bowler to get him out.

And to develop this level of concentration and persistence is not an easy task, especially when you are playing amidst the crowd of lakhs of spectators and billions of eyes upon you. It requires a lot of practice in the net and a very positive frame of mind. It is the result of years of hard work and sweating in the nets and gym. It is the result of avoiding the temptations. Just like Rome was never built in a day, it also applies with the Virat Kohli that we see today.
