US has exempted India from sanctions regarding the Iraninan question
The United States of America or the US has exempted India from the imposition of certain sanctions. These sanctions are regarding the development of the strategically located Chabahar port. This port is located in Iran. This is taking into consideration the construction of the railway line connecting it with Afghanistan.
Recently, the Trump administration had imposed the toughest ever sanction on Iran. It is also well known that the Trump administration is very restrictive in giving exemptions. But the port on the Gulf of Oman is very important for the much-needed development of war-torn Afghanistan.
The imposition of sanctions on oil imports from Iran was very tough. But the Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that eight countries – India, China, Italy, Greece, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, and Turkey – were temporarily allowed to continue buying Iranian oil as they showed “significant reduction” in oil purchase from the Persian Gulf countries. The US has exempted India from these sanctions and this shows the success of the diplomatic strategies implemented the current government.
The United States of America is continuously saying that the exemption of countries from sanctions is a step towards the economic development of Afghanistan. They are acting as if bringing peace and prosperity to Afghanistan is their only goal. Ironic is the fact that they were one of the reasons for the conflict in Afghanistan.
Uncovering the true reason for this is not much difficult. The United States of America is not in such an overbearing position as it wants us to believe. It does not control the world. The exemptions are but a charade where they strategically exempt the countries that they consider their allies and might need help from. Cunningly, they have also included some non-consequential countries on the list.
