Delhi witnessed a hail storm that disrupted lives
Delhi witnessed a hail storm of unprecedented nature today. People were starting to relax when the mercury rose a few degrees yesterday. However, today people woke to an ominous weather. The sky was covered with clouds the way it is in horror movies. Piercing cold winds were blowing at a great speed. The cold winds blowing gave a feel of apocalyptic and felt like what Harry Potter books tell us about Dementors.
After a day of dramatic weather, Delhi witnessed a hail storm of a even more dramatic nature. The streets turned white with hail giving the illusion of snow in some hill station. The fact that Delhi witnessed a hail storm came before the country when people started sharing the pictures of white streets on social media. The hail storm accompanied heavy rains went on for most of the evening. The residents were shocked and surprised at the scene when they peeked out of their windows.

A total of thirty eight flights were diverted from landing in Indira Gandhi Airport as Delhi witnessed a hail storm. Out of these twenty three were domestic flights and the rest nine were international flights. The domestic flights were diverted to a range of cities. Nine flights were diverted to Jaipur, three to Lucknow, three to Amritsar, two to Varanasi and two to as far as Indore.
The chartered plane carrying Manohar Lal Khattar the chief minister of Harayana was diverted as well. As Delhi witnessed a hail storm, the politician’s plane was diverted to Jaipur. He later arrived in Delhi in a regular plane.

The heavy rains and the storms have, however, failed to improve the air quality of the capital of India. The fact that Delhi witnessed a hail storm was due to the severe weather conditions prevailing in the entire North India. The northern part of the country has been experiencing heavy rains and snowfalls as a result of which life remains constantly disrupted. The Kashmir region has been cut off for two consecutive days now.
Here is to hoping that the weather will improve and life across the northern part of the country will go back to normal.
