Asia Cup 2018 Finals: India beat Bangladesh three wickets

A celebration has dawned upon cricket fans in India. The conclusion of the Asia Cup 2018 finals was in favour of the blue-jersey team as the took the tournament away from the clutches of battling Bangladesh.

Ravindra Jadeja’s showings in the Asia Cup 2018 finals was nothing to be proud of. The opener for Bangladesh, Linton Das was hammering the ball for scoring faster. Moreover, India had already lost two catches.

A peculiar thing to happen was that Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni placed fielders following the ball. This feature is a bit uncharacteristic to their style of captaincy. It took a lot for India to keep spirited Bangladesh at bay during the finals.

Bangladesh had set a score of 223 during their run. It took India all of the 50 overs to chase down that score. For Bangladesh, it ended as a repeat of the T20I series final in March earlier this year. Mahmudullah pitched the final ball of the match on the pads of Kedar Jadhav. The ball went for a leg-bye and gave India the only run remaining to win. Bangladesh will still have to wait for their maiden multi-national title, a goal that seemed within grasp this year.

Bangladesh had an almost indomitable will and intent to win. The opening partnership between Hasan and Das fetched 121 runs for 117 balls. The shrewd planning and captaincy of Mashrafe Mortaza kept India in check while defending 223. Once Rohit Sharma’s wicket fell at 48, it became difficult for India to cross the 100-run mark.

It was the efforts of Jadeja and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, followed Jadhav and Kuldeep Yadav that India was able to gain a standing sufficient for winning.

Bangladesh did everything to win the Asia Cup finals 2018. But they lost to the rock-like nerves that were displayed India, who took away the match from under their noses.
