Sarfaraz Ahmed: India did not lose on purpose against England

Pakistan skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed, refused to believe that India lost on purpose against England. The concept has been quite popular that India purposefully lost the match against England in order to hinder Pakistan’s semi-final chances. Many rumours through social media and memes have been circulating regarding the issue. Most of it is for comic relief and should not be taken too seriously. But there are always those in a group who take a joke too seriously and start concocting their own twisted realities. Ahmed said that it was incorrect to blame the Indian side for something they didn’t do.

A lot of former Pakistan cricketers believe that India did not give their best against England. They are suggesting that it was a ploy to put obstacles in the path of their country on the road to the semi-finals. Sarfaraz Ahmed told reporters, “No, no, it is not right to say this. I don’t think that India lost because of us. England played well to win.” Sarfaraz also criticised the journalist at the press conference after she used the word ‘Bengalis’ while referring to the players of Bangladesh.

He told the reporter, “Please don’t use this word. It could become an issue for you on the social media. I think you should address them as Bangladesh. You are using objectionable word.” There was also some talk about Shoaib Malik and his retirement from international cricket. On this issue, Sarfaraz commented, “Shoaib is our senior-most player. Though he did not have a good world cup, he has served the country a lot. His presence in the team was very good for all of us.”

This sort of well-thought-out and mature reply is being appreciated all. Sarfaraz Ahmed has truly displayed great sportsman spirit. He is being appreciated cricket fans from both countries.
