The number of malaria cases has declined in India
If the latest world report World Health Organisation is to be believed then the conditions of health in the country are improving at a good rate as the number of malaria cases has declined steadily in the past few years in India.
The number of malaria cases has declined in India
In a statement, World Health Organisation spoke about the fact that the number of malaria cases have declined in India and said, “India registered a 24 per cent reduction in cases (from 2016 to 2017), largely due to substantial declines of the disease in the highly malarious state of Odisha, home to approximately 40 per cent of all malaria cases in the country,”.
At present, India accounts for four per cent of the total malaria cases across the globe and about fifty-two per cent of deaths due to this disease outside the continent of Africa. The number of malaria cases has declined at a significant rate though because of the commendable record set Odisha. The reports of a case of malaria in the state of Odisha have dropped an awe-striking eighty per cent.
“Odisha government showed political commitment allocating resources and working with development partners in looking at the big picture and ensuring last-mile connectivity,” head- Healths of Tata Trusts H S D Srinivas said when speaking on Odisha’s significantly lower rates of malaria.
As far as the efforts of the Modi government at the Centre is concerned, a five year long National Strategic Plan to eliminate malaria was launched in the year 2017.
The fact that the number of malaria cases has declined steadily in India is really good news for the citizens of the country. It is a nod towards a future with better healthcare and facilities and fewer diseases that drive down the average life expectancy.
