Let’s help out flood-stricken Kerala resurrect and rebuild.
The catastrophic Kerala floods have wreaked havoc across the state claiming the lives of more than 300 people. More than 2 lakh people have left their houses due to the increasing water level prone to submerge their houses. They have been temporarily staying in the relief camps to escape the death. Thousands of people are still stranded in the flood-prone areas as the clouds of death continue to hover over their heads.
In order to rescue and provide the relief to the flood-stricken people, both the Central government and state government are working shoulder to shoulder rising above the political differences. People from various walks of life are coming forward to voluntarily help in some way or other to the people affected rain havoc.
At a time when our fellow countrymen of the southern state suffer from the worst flood crisis since 1924, it’s our moral duty to help the people affected the deluge. It doesn’t matter how tiny our contribution may be, but even if just a few rupees, that we would other otherwise spent for buying some snacks or junk food or watching a movie in the theatre, is utilized to provide a one-time meal to even a single person living in the relief camps, it will be of great help.
As a popular saying goes, “each drop of water fills the entire pitcher”, likewise the contribution of each and every one of us, no matter how tiny it may be, will be instrumental in helping both the state and centre government to ensure the safety and security of flood-affected people due to Kerala floods.
And one of the major reasons we should not shy away from donating, whatever little we can, is because we never know when, God forbid, we may also be in such a need of help. The loss of life and property caused due to the disasters such as flood over which humans have a very less control beyond a point may surprise anyone anytime with its deadly effects, leaving us completely helpless.
Such is the nature of nature that you never know when it may bring down lives and material things all of a sudden. Merely prayers will not help, we have got to show our solidarity through our actions. Since we are not being asked to fly to the areas affected the flood to rescue them, as the rescue teams have been already sent there for that, the least we can do is donate sitting at our home.
It doesn’t matter whether you are earning or not, the amount doesn’t have to be necessarily colossal. No amount is big or small as long as it is used for the right cause.
