#Cleanganga: Environmentalist Rajendra Singh is all Set to Begin a 5000 Km Yatra to Clean Ganga
As from last 2 years, we have witnessed some list of fake promises from our current government and that includes ‘Clean Ganga’, nothing happened after that. We all are hoping for some change, but change always comes when you are ready to change ‘Yourself’. The popular Environmentalist Rajendra Singh has taken the lead to go out for a Clean Ganga Yatra from Gaumukh to Gangasagar, which will cover around 5000 kms.
As we all know it is very hard to change anything in India because – we don’t lead with democracy, we lead corrupt politicians. So, this clean ganga yatra initiated Environmentalist Rajendra Singh is some positive change that we are looking forward. The whole Yatra will cover 105 days and will end on 14th January, 2019.

The Yatra would lead Environmentalist Rajendra Singh with a team of 20 scientists, activists, and environmentalists for a “nirmal” (clean) and “a viral” (free-flowing) Ganga. This shows our government is not taking any single step towards the cleaning of Ganga from last 5 years as they promised us in 2014 election. We can understand cleaning Ganga is not an easy task, but our government didn’t make any single plan or take any initiative action against it.

In Haridwar’s Matri Sadan ashram, Environmentalist and Ganga activist Professor G.D. Agrawal (87) alias Swami Gyan Swaroop Sanand is entered on the 103rd day of fast-unto-death. They are demanding the illegal mining in the Ganga should be banned and the construction of Hydro-Power projects should be stopped.
Rajendra Singh said, “Our yatra’s main purpose is to support Agrawal ji… We have five vehicles to undertake the yatra. We will walk where we have to, or cross the Ganga through boats where needed, but we will halt at various human settlements along the river to apprise people about the need for a clean and free-flowing Ganga…and about the kind of law needed to ensure this.”
While the core team undertaking the yatra has 21 members, Singh said, “people will keep joining the yatra at various cities, towns, and villages that the yatra enters.”
