Rs. 5000 crore Taliban Heroin Racket Busted

The Delhi Police special cell carried out a 120-day operation. They have successfully busted an Af-Pak heroin racket which was being controlled a Taliban leader and his Pakistani counterpart. This is the biggest ever contraband bust till date in Delhi and hence has led the police to discover 150 kg of heroin which costs over Rs 600 crore.

The cartel had found devious ways to transport the drugs which were embedded in jute strings that would be made into bags. These bags were filled with spices and dry fruits. They were then exported to India. They were manufactured around Jalalabad, east of Kabul, Afghanistan. The heroin was extracted one it was brought to Delhi. A secret lab in Zakir Nagar, South Delhi was the location of the extraction point. But now, the lab along with other vehicled has been busted the police.

The approximate value of the heroin pushed the cartel into India is Rs 5000 crores. The heroin racket was busted after the cops tracked down a convoy of six cars that moved along various routes around Delhi and Amritsar. Five of the cars carried contraband. The sixth car was driven the kingpin who worked as a spotter for the cartel.

The police had originally captured the five smugglers. Two of them were chemical experts of Afghan origin. The sixth suspect was arrested on Friday.

A special team was led ACPs Lalit Mohan Negi and Hriday Bhushan. They are still on the lookout for the cartel’s main receiver. He has been identified as a Western UP-based businessman who was under suspicion for quite some time. He was continuously being supplied with those suspicious jute bags people who were suspected of having terrorist connections.

It is a great achievement the Delhi Police that the heroin racket has now been busted.
