Cyclonic storm Phethai creates havoc on the East coast of the country
Cyclonic storm Phethai faced a landfall in Katrenikona situated in the East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh. The landfall made cyclonic storm Phethai is reported to be at a distance of seventy-five kilometres from Kakinada in the south-west direction and thirty-five kilometres south-east of Narsapur.

It was around 12:30 pm that the cyclonic storm Phethai made landfall, after which the entirety of East India has been experiencing rainfall and winds. The worst affected part, however, seems to be Konaseema region of Andhra Pradesh that is experiencing heavy rainfalls and very strong winds.
The Andhra Pradesh state government has alerted people to be careful in the wake of the cyclonic storm Phethai hitting the shores of the state. A person was reported dead as he fell victim to a landslide caused heavy rainfalls in the city of Vijayawada.
Thankfully, no other serious causality has been reported as of now according to the State Disaster Management Authority. The effects of the cyclonic storm Phethai have not been limited to the coasts. In the state of Andhra Pradesh alone, twenty-two trains have been cancelled while one has had to be rescheduled.
The cyclonic storm Phethai is the third to have hit the coasts of Andhra Pradesh in a mere span of three months. Earlier the cyclones Titli and Gaja had created havoc with the heavy rainfalls and the winds. The state government of Andhra Pradesh has claimed that it was successful in its mission of minimising the damage that was anticipated.
The precautionary measurements taken the authorities on the directions of the Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu are claimed to have worked. “RTG played a key role in alerting fishermen who ventured into the sea. In addition, people were alerted through IVRS and messages,” the CEO of Andhra Pradesh’s Real Time Governance Centre, R Babu said in a statement.
