Remembering the heroes of Kargil war on the occasion of ‘Kargil Vijay Diwas’
On 26th July 1999, Indian Army recaptured all the Indian posts that had been occupied Pakistani Army. Since then, July 26 is commemorated as the ‘Kargil Vijay Diwas’ in the memory of those soldiers who sacrificed their lives in the service of the nation.
Though they are not amongst us today physically, their immense sacrifice will continue to inspire the generations to come.
The Kargil war which took place between May 1999 to July 1999 in Jammu and Kashmir is the epitome of nefarious intentions of Pakistan and valour of Indian soldiers.
In such harsh climatic conditions where the temperature is below zero degree centigrade and the body starts to freeze due to cold, our soldiers not only protected our motherland but also fought hard against the enemies.
Indian Army launched ‘Operation Vijay’ to take on the enemies. Hundreds of soldiers got martyred and many left wounded.
By reclaiming the position of India on the land which was captured the Pakistani Army, Indian soldier not only taught a lesson to Pakistan but also sent a strong message showcasing the military strength of the nation across the world.
After the Kargil war, India increased its defence budget. As a result of which today India is amongst the top 5 countries in the world in terms of highest defence spendings.
But, unfortunately, it’s been 19 years since the Kargil war, the relationship between India and Pakistan has always been hostile.
Especially when both the countries are nuclear powers and any further war will cause heavy casualties to both the sides, all we can hope is that a war like situation may never ever repeat and both the countries live with peace and harmony.
However, despite all such attempts of rapprochement if a country doesn’t mend its ways, then there is no other choice but to retaliate with all might and strength.
