Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh attends Hornbill Festival in Nagaland

Union Home Minister Shri Rajnath Singh attended Hornbill Festival 2017 in Kisama Village, Kohima, Nagaland as Chief Guest. The Governor of Nagaland, Shri P.B.Acharya welcomed the Union Home Minister Shri Rajnath Singh on the 8th day of the Hornbill festival at Kisama village in Kohima, Nagaland today.

He addressed to the gathering on this occasion. While speaking at Hornbill Festival Home Minister extended his greetings to the people of Nagaland Shri Rajnath singh termed the Hornbill Festival as a prominent landmark in the socio-cultural progression of the people of Nagaland. He said that the Hornbill Festival presents a spectacular show of unity in diversity.

He said, “The festival with participation of tribes also from Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh and Madhya pradesh truly symbolizes the strength of our nation – the feeling of unity in diversity in true spirit of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat,”.

He praised the role of the State Government in raising Nagaland’s 15 India Reserve (Women) Battalion and setting up of Women’s Police Stations in Kohima and Dimapur for empowering women.

Union Home Minister also underlined the role of Naga regiment for playing a critical role in combating Left Wing Extermism in affected areas of Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Odisha and Jharkhand. Shri Singh visualized that Nagaland has an opportunity to lead the other Northeast states to the path of peace, stability, prosperity and growth. While concluding his speech, he said, “I hoped for a peaceful, vibrant, colourful and enregictic Nagaland that is an example for other states to emulate.”
