FTII chairperson Actor Anupam Kher resigns

Actor Anupam Kher resigns from the post of chairperson of the Film and Television Institute of India. His resignation was announced on Wednesday with the veteran actor citing his professional commitments in the United States as the reason. He stated that it would not be possible for him to engage in his duties and hence this would be a better decision.

He had succeeded the rather controversial tenure of Gajendra Chauhan.

 

The reason behind the resignation.

Actor Anupam Kher resigns to also play former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in the film adaptation of a memoir written Manmohan Singh’s former media advisor Sanjay Baru. This adaptation will be released in theatres just before the 2019 elections and has hence caused a stir already.

If sources are to believed then Anupam Kher stated in his resignation letter that he will be posted in the United States of America for a period of nine months between 2018 and 2019 and then three years more for a similar period. Actor Anupam Kher resigns also to accommodate his commitment to NBC series New Amsterdam.

“Given this assignment (the show), it would not be fair to me, the students and management team, for me to hold a position of such responsibility and accountability, without being actively involved in the operations,” says the resignation letter as actor Anupam Kher resigns from his post.

The amazing actor has also urged Mr Rathore to accept his resignation and look for a worthy candidate while the notice period lasts to take over from him. He has also assured that he will always be available if his guidance is needed or if any responsibility needs to be entrusted to him.

Anupam Kher’s resignation letter has been accepted Mr Rathore who has also expressed his thanks to the brilliant actor for his services rendered to the Films and Television Institute of India and the Information and Broadcasting Ministry.
