AAP questioned the police after Signature Bridge clash
The ruling power of Delhi, AAP questioned the police and its role after the clash between Manoj Tiwari and the police at the opening of Delhi’s Signature Bridge. AAP questioned the police and whether they could be entrusted with the security of the Delhi’s elected representatives.
Manoj Tiwari had turned up at the venue claiming that he did not get an invite to the event despite him being a lawmaker of the part of the country. Later during the evening, the leader was captured the camera as he punched the police while he was being escorted out. Later on, another video surfaced of him making threats to the police and was claiming that he had identified the concerned men.
AAP also accused Manoj Tiwari’s supporters of indulging in hooliganism after the BJP leader had left the event. They were also accused of throwing bottles at the people on stage that to while the Chief Minister of Delhi; Arvind Kejriwal was addressing the crowd present. It was this incident that led to the point wherein AAP questioned the police.
Arvind Kejriwal called the incident “pretty serious” and tweeted “Delhi police virtually handed over the CM, the ministers and the entire Del govt. program in the hands of hooligans. Can Delhi police be entrusted with the security of Delhi Govt. and its functionaries? Delhi Govt. will explore legal options”.
When AAP questioned the police, the political body also questioned as to why the police did not file a case against Manoj Tiwari even when he is seen punching an on-duty police officer.
The Delhi Police in their statement to media did not mention the matter at all. “The main function was held smoothly without any disturbance… Though there was slogan shouting, the police segregated the groups and did not allow any clash or violence to take place,” was the statement of a senior police official.
Manoj Tiwari in his statement said “I am very disappointed with Aam Aadmi Party’s behaviour. Is this a way to treat a parliamentarian? Even the police have misbehaved with me. The police are with them,”
