A Peek into Justice Mathur led 7 Pay Commission – India Alive
The Commission has fixed minimum pay at Rs.18000 per month and maximum at 2.25 lakh. While the rate of annual increment has been retained at three per cent, hike in pension is at 24 per cent.
The ceiling of gratuity has been increased from Rs.10 lakh to Rs.20 lakh whereas a cabinet secretary will get Rs.2.5 lakh instead of the existing Rs.90, 000 per month pay band. One rank one pension for civilian government employees have been proposed on the lines of OROP for armed forces the Justice Mathur led 7 Pay Commission.
The Military Service Pay for service officers has been more than doubled from the existing Rs. 6000 to Rs. 15000 per month. For nursing officers in defence services, it has been increased from Rs.4200 to Rs.10800. The Justice Mathur led 7 Pay Commission also recommended the exit liberty to short service commissioned officers between seven to ten years of service.
Justice Mathur led 7 Pay Commission will have a financial bearing of Rs.73.650 crore on the central budget and Rs.28, 450 crores on the railway budget. 47 lakh serving government employees and 52 lakh pensioners will be affected the recommendations.
The Government of India has notified the recommendations of the 7 Pay Commission with 34 modifications which include a reduction in the HRA rates. The HRA rates have been reduced to 24 per cent for X, 16 per cent for Y and 8 per cent for Z category cities.
The Central Government has also given sanction to the revision of pay scales for about 8 lakh teaching and other equivalent academic staff in institutions of higher education under the University Grants Commission.Quite a few states have announced 7 Pay Commission for their employees on their own while others gave in to protests.
Uttar Pradesh Government has also announced Justice Mathur led 7 Pay Commission benefits to teachers and professors of the state-run institutions.
