The eminent lawyer Ram Jethmalani had filed a lawsuit against the Bhartiya Janata Party in the year 2013 for expelling him from their ranks.
The Court has allowed the end to the pending lawsuit today based on a joint letter submitted to the court by the eminent lawyer Ram Jethmalani and Bhartiya Janata Party.
Bhartiya Janata Party had expelled Ram Jethmalani from its primary membership in 2013 for a period of six years on the grounds of breaching party discipline. The eminent lawyer Ram Jethmalani had then taken Bhartiya Janata Party to court over the matter and filed a lawsuit while demanding fifty lakh Rupees in damages.
Today, however, additional district judge Sumit Dass in a statement said, “Now nothing survives in the suit. The suit is disposed of,” after he disposed of the lawsuit in light of the settlement agreement reaches between Ram Jethmalani and the Bhartiya Janata Party.
The Bhartiya Janata Party and the eminent lawyer Ram Jethmalani had filed a joint plea in Thursday that essentially said, “a decree be passed in terms of an amicable settlement between them”. Party supremo Amit Shah has also expressed his regret over the fact that the experienced senior lawyer had to be expelled from the party.
The plea submitted in the court said, “During the pendency of the suit the President of Defendant no 1 party Amit Shah along with the General Secretary of Defendant no 1 party Bhupender Yadav called upon the plaintiff (Jethmalani). During the said meeting the President and the General Secretary expressed their sincere regret at the expulsion of the plaintiff vide the order dated May 28, 2013 passed by the Parliamentary Board of Defendant no 1.”
The court had recorded the statements of advocate Ashish Dixit who represented Ram Jethmalani and Manu Congratulations who appeared for the Bhartiya Janata Party when the matter came up before it.
We do not know what the exact terms of the settlement reached are but the eminent lawyer Ram Jethmalani is known to never sell himself short hence we can rest assured it was something beneficial to both sides.
